Air Sealing
Air sealing is crucial to whole home comfort and home cleanliness. Unsealed areas leads to "series path leakage" where the origination of an air/dirt leak could be connected by a series of gaps. The optimal time to fully air seal is when your attic insulation is removed. We can seal your recessed lighting, outlet boxes, attic hatches, and where walls meet ceilings. Take a look at the video that talks about air sealing.
Air sealing installation costs can, and typically do, outpace the savings. DIY'ers can tackle a lot of the items below. Don't feel comfortable tackling these yourself? Not to worry - you aren't alone and we are here to help!

AIR SEALING TASKS:
-
Weather Stripping for doors is very affordable and easy to purchase from your local big box stores. You want the door snug enough that it takes a bit of effort to close and you do not want to be able to see any daylight around the edges of the door. Keep in mind door weather stripping is to seal small gaps in doors. Gaps more than half inch need to have the door adjusted, re-squared, or replaced.
-
Door Sweeps can be installed in a similar manner as weather stripping and help keep out pesky bugs.
-
Seal behind light switches and outlet boxes requires removal of faceplate covers, adding a seal foam (can be purchased on Amazon, search "Wall Insulation Outlet Insulators Draft Sealers"), and reinstalling faceplate covers.
-
Seal areas outside your home including hose bibs, outlets, and windows. Small holes can be sealed using silicon caulk. Larger gaps can be sealed using expanding foam. If using foam, ensure that the area is covered and protected from air and light as the sun breaks down and discolors foam.
